Directed by William Prideaux, Peterborough Male Voice Choir is recognised as one of the country’s finest male choirs, with an impressive concert schedule and a track record of national and international competition success.
In 2017 they won the male voice class at the Mrs Sunderland Festival in Huddersfield and at the prestigious Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts, where the adjudicators described their performance as “vocal magic”. In 2018 they won the male voice class at the North Wales Choral Festival, and in 2019 – with Peterborough Voices – they were awarded the Centenary Trophy for the ‘most outstanding individual item’ of the Huddersfield Mrs Sunderland Festival
In recent years they have performed with world-renowned musicians including the King’s Singers, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, legendary soprano Leslie Garret, folk hero John Boden of Bellowhead, the Central Band of the RAF and the BBC Concert Orchestra – among others – in spectacular venues from Truro Cathedral to Sage Gateshead and all points in between, regularly featuring on local and national radio.
Peterborough Voices is an award-winning women’s choir with an impressive record of national and international competition success and world-class collaborators including Bernie Nolan, classical crossover group Blake, the King’s Singers, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Band of the RAF Regiment and the BBC Concert Orchestra. Their performances are regularly broadcast on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
In 2016 they were awarded a silver diploma at the prestigious Interkultur Canta al Mar international choral competition in Calella, Spain. They won the female voice class at the 2017 Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts, where they were awarded the coveted Gold Cup for the most memorable performance on ‘choirs day’. In 2019 they swept the board at the Mrs Sunderland Festival in Huddersfield and – with Peterborough Male Voice Choir – were awarded the Centenary Trophy for ‘most outstanding individual item of the festival’.
In August 2019 they competed in the Andrea Del Verrocchio International Choral Festival in Florence, Italy, winning gold diplomas for their performances in the women’s choirs and sacred music classes, and second place in the Grand Prix.
Peterborough Youth Choir is the city’s leading youth music group with over 125 members in junior, intermediate and senior sections. Directed by William Prideaux, the choir is free to all and welcomes children from the age of seven, providing professional singing and music tuition and exceptional performances opportunities.
The choir has collaborated with world class musicians including the King’s Singers and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as well as participating in national tours of Evita starring Marti Pellow and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat starring X Factor winner Joe McElderry. Their performances are regularly broadcast on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire and in 2016 they were featured on BBC One’s Songs of Praise.
